Technological developments like Smart Grid and Smart Metering have their origins in the declared intention of both society and the government to abandon nuclear energy, to promote the growth of the renewables sector and to boost competition on the energy market. This new strategy has led to completely new challenges with regard to the transport and distribution of electricity, gas, oil and water. Transport and distribution networks are becoming increasingly intelligent; all processes of technical network operation, from network planning to network control up to metering and billing, will be supported by IT solutions. IDS GmbH and GÖRLITZ AG are household names for the owners of energy supply networks on the European market. Through this merger, we are able to offer a unique competence portfolio to our customers, with the advantage that only one system is required for the supervision and control of the complete energy transport and distribution network, and for the metering and billing of energy flows. Thus, problems with interfaces have become a thing of the past. With nearly 600 employees in Germany and abroad, and a turnover of ca. 75 million Euros, the now expanded IDS Group will see a significant increase in international activities, especially on the European market.
